The Corona Cabinet will be asked to approve today, for the third time, the "traffic light model", according to which the state is supposed to operate from September 1. Corona projector Prof. Roni Gamzo recommends that studies in the Red Cities not begin on that date. The issue of imposing restrictions in the form of a closure during the holidays is not expected to arise from Gamzo or the Ministry of Health, but it is possible that, as in previous discussions, this option will be raised by the National Security Council.

Gamzo will present an outline according to which authorities will be classified as green, yellow, orange and red and restrictions will be imposed on them accordingly. The rating will be determined based on a weighting of several morbidity parameters, including the rate of infection, the rate of positive tests and the rate of morbidity growth. Regarding the restrictions that will be imposed in the red cities, the Ministry of Health and the traffic light staff are considering several options, including not opening the school year or closing in a "curfew" format of leaving up to 500 meters from the house.

Also, despite the reliefs on a regional basis, there will be events where convergence settings will be nationally outlined, including parks, nature reserves, sporting events and clubs, and probably also events like weddings.

"Hopefully the traffic light model will pass and not get stuck because of 'Jewish wars,'" a Ministry of Health source said last night. "This is a good outline and it should go through. The Ministry of Health was attentive to comments made in previous times and made adjustments, and this time the traffic light outline will be fully approved. "It's just a matter of voluntarily harassing Gamzo."

Gamzo did not rule out closure

Some emergency regulations and corona restrictions are due to expire on August 31, so if approval is delayed, the State of Israel may find itself without an approved action plan.

"If the model is not approved at the meeting on Sunday, there will be no legal framework for activity later on. We will have to come on Monday and present the model again and hope it is approved."

During Shabbat Gimzo toured the city of Tira and said: "I want to stay healthy. If at the end the only way they will leave me to stay healthy is a closure - what to do, I will do it. I will announce it in the red cities. "This book is like pouring gasoline on a fire. The children come back, catch up with each other, go home and catch up with the parents, and maybe the grandparents."

Education Minister Yoav Galant said that while at first we were considering postponing the school year in red cities for tenth-twelfth graders until after the holidays - now there is a scenario where kindergartens, primary and middle schools will not open on September 1 in these cities either: " We will see the data and make decisions. The government authorized me to make decisions. In this case there is also a Corona cabinet. We will hear things and decide. Classes will begin on September 1 for 99 percent of residents. Is there a change in cities in the reds? seen. "This is a small group of localities, and I hope we will be able to bring them to school as planned, certainly at a young age, to elementary schools and middle schools."

A source in the Ministry of Health said about the conduct of the Ministry of Education: "It is impossible to talk to them. We have offered the facilities that will allow third- to fourth-grade learning without capsules, so that more fifth- and sixth-grade students can come. These are also facilities that will help schools with complex planning. "And they did not agree to that either. We stopped arguing with them."

On Friday, 1831 corona carriers were diagnosed in Israel in 23,263 tests. Yesterday, 644 carriers were diagnosed in 7,654 tests. The hospitals have 861 inpatients, of which 116 are respirators. Number of patients in critical condition: 438 patients. 191 patients in fair condition. In all corona wards in hospitals the occupancy does not reach a rate of over 100 per cent.

Laboratory workers are on strike

About 2,000 laboratory workers in the hospitals and in the Clalit and Meuhedet HMOs are going on strike indefinitely this morning. As part of the strike, only emergency services will be provided, and no laboratory services will be provided in clinics. Corona tests will be performed, but updates will be sent only on positive answers to interrupt the infection chain.

Also, no tests will be performed on hospital wards (other than life-saving tests from emergency rooms, trauma wards and intensive care units), and no clinic tests or tests for non-urgent surgeries will be deciphered.

Workers will also perform tests designed for urgent surgeries, delivery rooms and cancer patients. Also, no tests will be performed on newborns, and this is expected to delay the release of infants from hospitals.

Negotiations between lab workers and the Ministry of Finance exploded on Thursday evening. The workers have been demanding for a long time, even before the Corona crisis, to sign a proper wage agreement with them - at least NIS 50 for a beginning laboratory worker. Today, beginning laboratory workers, with advanced degrees, earn NIS 31 per hour, while at May Heritage Laboratories the salary is four times higher.

Laboratory workers also want to increase labor standards and adapt them to population growth.

Dr. Raoul Kolodner, director of the laboratories at Haemek Medical Center in Afula: "Unfortunately, we have reached a declaration of an indefinite strike. I would like to ask our partners to show understanding and empathy to the lab workers who are fighting for their basic rights, which have been rejected for years. We have no intention of harming patients, and we will do everything possible not to endanger life. "

Esther Admon, chairwoman of the Federation of Microbiologists, Biochemists and Laboratory Workers, said: "The Israeli government despises us and ignores us, the laboratory workers, despite the heavy responsibility on our shoulders, and despite the fact that we risk our lives every day at work. Our working conditions and wages are among the poorest in the State of Israel. We are ashamed. "
