Trump supporters arrived in downtown Portland and clashed with black protesters • Medical teams arriving at the scene were forced to determine the victim's death • Circumstances are still being investigated

Reports in the United States: One person was killed last night (Sunday) in Portland, Oregon, during a confrontation between a parade of supporters of President Donald Trump and protesters of the "Black Lives Are Not a No Man" movement.

The circumstances of the incident are still being investigated and it is not known whether the shooting is related to clashes that broke out between two groups of protesters. "Police heard gunshots from the area of the business center in the city. They arrived at the scene and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. Medical teams who arrived at the scene were forced to determine his death," a police statement said.

The Trump march came out of one of the city's suburbs where about 600 vehicles that were heading toward downtown Portland gathered. When they reached their destination, the black protesters waited for them in the nearby streets and burned posters of the presidential election campaign. In response, supporters sprayed them with pepper spray and fired paintballs at them.

The incident came two days after the president's speech on the last evening of the Republican convention, where he listed the city as a "liberal place run by violence," as part of his election campaign to restore "law and order." This is the third consecutive Saturday that a Trump support parade is being held in the city.

Simultaneously with the shooting incident, protesters set fires near the local police building, prompting forces to declare a state of emergency. In the months since George Floyd's killing of a police officer in Minneapolis, there have been many riots in the city.
