Dozens of residents living near the prime minister's residence petitioned today (Sunday) against the mayor of Jerusalem and the police, demanding the evacuation of protest tents in the area. In a petition filed with the district administrative court in the capital, it was alleged that it was an environmental hazard that the residents were suffering from, along with the demonstrations. The High Court recently rejected a petition by residents in the neighborhood against the continuation of the demonstrations.

According to the petitioners, they asked the municipality several times to address the issue and reach an understanding. Finally, they decided to petition, after claiming that the tents do not have a license. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been stationed at the site in recent months, and a tent of supporters of the prime minister was later set up next to him.

"In recent weeks, the petitioners, residents of the Rehavia and Talbiyeh neighborhoods in Jerusalem, have been suffering from repeated riots by such and such demonstrators, which harm the petitioners' public," the petition reads. "This is alongside a constant and frequent protest in the neighborhood, which leads to an impossible situation in which the petitioners find themselves - as those who live without law and order under the auspices of the municipality, which does not carry out proper enforcement actions."

They added that the municipality "allows for proper and unrestricted protest, without any balance between the right to demonstrate and the right to life and a host of other rights, of the residents of the neighborhoods of Rehavia and Talbiyeh in Jerusalem." The residents further claimed that the municipality and the police act "while discriminating against the petitioners, without authority, while not enforcing the law and enforcing it lawfully, which makes the current situation an improper anarchy, which is severely supported by them."

Advocate Hur Uriel Nizri, representing the residents, said that "the fear that the mayor is acting for improper motives, on the backs of the residents while disregarding the law and the Supreme Court decision, left the residents no choice and they petitioned against the mayor.

" The residents, the non-enforcement of the law and such severe harm to the residents of the neighborhoods, is an illegal and ugly act and everything must be done to stop the anarchy. This reality is unbearable and the conduct of the municipality is a crime against the residents. It is inconceivable that the municipality will choose to act in an act and / or omission, against the residents, while the latter is acting to establish anarchy in the neighborhoods. "
