The Corona Cabinet, which is convening tonight (Sunday) for the fourth time, has approved the "traffic light" plan of the Corona commissioner, Prof. Roni Gamzo, according to which the fight against the plague will take place in the coming months. At the cabinet meeting, ministers are also expected to approve the outline of prayers in synagogues during the Tishrei holidays and discuss a possible imposition of a closure and other restrictions on "red cities."

Gamzo will tell ministers that he aims to start implementing the "traffic light" plan within a week - on September 6. According to the Gamzo plan, the following restrictions will be imposed on "red" cities at this time - leaving the city and entering the city of essential workers only, leaving the house for essential needs only within 500 meters of the house, night curfew from 22:00 to 5:00, closing businesses And closure of the education system other than special education and kindergartens.

At the last meeting of the Corona Cabinet 10 days ago, there was no vote on the plan due to opposition from the ultra-Orthodox parties and especially from the Minister of Housing, Yaakov Litzman, who until a few months ago served as Minister of Health. Litzman and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri claimed that the plan was biased against ultra-Orthodox localities and demanded that amendments be made to it.

Last Sunday, a discussion took place in which Litzman, Deri, Health Minister Yuli Edelstein and Science Minister Yizhar Shai participated in a small meeting with Corona Commissioner Gamzo, at the end of which several amendments were made to the program and it was made clear that there will be no discrimination against ultra-Orthodox communities.

Litzman and Deri gave their consent to the plan, but then the crisis broke out over the trip to Uman and the corona cabinet meeting was postponed again due to the tension between Litzman and Gimzo. Last night, a temporary solution was found to the artist's issue in the form of the establishment of a ministerial committee on the subject. Ministers in the Corona cabinet point out that the establishment of the same team of ministers on the subject of artisans is expected to finally remove the objections of the ultra-Orthodox ministers regarding the "traffic light" program.

According to the "traffic light" program, treatment in Corona will be carried out differentially between different cities according to the morbidity data - the number of new patients and the rate of increase in morbidity. Accordingly, it will be determined whether a city is "green" - with low morbidity, "yellow", "orange" or "red" - with a level of morbidity that requires the imposition of restrictions.

"Red" cities will receive, on the one hand, a Home Front Command support package and, on the other hand, will be subject to restrictions such as closing the education system, closing businesses, a total closure or even a curfew. For example, in "red" cities, there will be a ban on gathering more than 20 people in an open area and only 10 people in a closed building. In "green" cities for comparison, it will be possible to hold a gathering of 250 people in an open area and of 100 in a closed building.

According to the "traffic light" program, every two weeks the situation will be examined in all localities in Israel and it will be determined what color each of them will receive and whether to move localities from one color to another. During these two weeks, the indices will be published continuously to enable cities or localities to take steps to prevent them from becoming a "red" locality.
