The Belarusian Foreign Ministry condemned the imposition of sanctions by the Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia on 30 officials in Belarus, including President Alexander Lukashenko, describing these measures as "urgent".
"We have carefully reviewed the statement of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian parties ... Whatever the matter is, they are our neighboring countries and that is why their positions are important to us, but their degree is declining in light of the recent hasty steps that have unfortunately been taken," ministry spokesman Anatoly Glaz said in an interview with the Russian Novosti Agency. Confirmation of this situation is sad.
Glaz indicated that it is unclear how this step by Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia could support the sovereignty and independence of Belarus, which is what these three parties talk about with such a degree.
Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia announced earlier today a ban on 30 Belarusian officials, including the country's president, to visit the three countries, to be the first European Union country to apply sanctions on the Belarusian authorities in light of the anti-government protests in Belarus.
It is noteworthy that the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko revealed recently that the United States is behind the planning and implementation of the disturbances in his country, while the Europeans comply with its orders.
