Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to fully liberating its territory from the Israeli occupation and its adherence to the national resistance that constituted a model in confronting aggression and occupation.
In a speech on the 42nd anniversary of the disappearance of Imam Musa Al-Sadr and his two companions, Berri said, "The resistance is fully prepared and ready to confront any Israeli aggression on Lebanon," stressing that unity between the sons of the one resistance and the one nation alone is capable of protecting Lebanon.
Berri warned against the continuation of some "irresponsible" political performance and behavior, indicating that it represents a fertile ground for re-breeding chaos and awakening terrorist sleeper cells who are waiting for the opportunity to attack stability in Lebanon and tamper with unity and internal security.
On government affairs, Berri called for an end to media campaigns, stressing the need to expedite the formation of a strong, inclusive government that has a reform program with a specific time period that equates to the reconstruction of what was destroyed in Beirut and carrying out the necessary reforms.
Berri also reaffirmed that the Palestinian issue was and will remain a priority in the nation’s conscience, its charter, and the compass of the Arab people until the establishment of an independent, free and sovereign Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
With regard to the case of Imam al-Sadr and his two companions, Berri stressed that this case "will not die and will not end until all the circumstances surrounding it are revealed."
