Land Rover: beetroot alcohol for Discovery Sport and Range Evoque

NEWS - Two SUVs from the English manufacturer now run on E85 superethanol. Savings in anticipation for heavy riders and a reduced environmental impact.

Half-word announced last year by the English group, the marketing of models compatible with Superethanol E85 is becoming a reality. For the moment, this concerns two bestsellers in its catalog: the Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Range Rover Evoque. While the offer of E85 vehicles offered by manufacturers is very small, the English group is the first premium player to enter this market. This initiative is part of a perspective of reducing its environmental impact - compared to SP95, well-to-wheel CO2 emissions are reduced by more than 50% on average thanks to the use of renewable raw materials - and to benefit from many advantages. The first of these concerns the price at the pump. The liter of Superethanol E85 appreciates on average at 0.66 €. It is without competition compared to the SP95-E10 invoiced on average 1.33 € since the beginning of the year 2020. Despite an overconsumption of the order of 25% inherent in the system, the saving can reach 450 € for 13 000 km traveled on the basis of a vehicle consuming 7 l / 100 km, according to studies. And it's getting less and less difficult to find a pump that dispenses E85. The network is accelerating with the opening of two stations per day. Last June, there were 1,885 E85 stations spread across the country.

Another advantage: the free registration in most regions, except in Center-Val-de-Loire and Brittany where it is half price. Another good news: the two English SUVs are also exempt from ecological penalties thanks to the reduction of 40% on CO2 emissions granted to flexifuel vehicles. As for the companies, they benefit, as for diesel, from a recovery of VAT up to 80% on E85 superethanol.

In the case of the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque, flexifuel technology is associated with the P200 version, that is to say the 4-cylinder 2-liter turbo 200 hp with 48 V light hybridization coupled to the automatic transmission. The price starts at € 45,860 for the Discovery Sport and € 46,050 for the Range Rover Evoque.
