Hasaka governorate's production of various summer vegetable varieties has reached 55,000 tons so far, as farmers continue to market their produce in local markets.
The head of the plant production department in the Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Engineer Bilal pointed out that the production of summer vegetables during the current season was good, especially the varieties of watermelon, whose production exceeded 32 thousand tons, and tomatoes, which exceeded 12 thousand tons, in light of expectations that the production of the current season will exceed the quantities produced during the last season.
For his part, Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Ignatius Ignatius, affirmed that the governorate’s production of summer vegetables contributed to providing a large part of the governorate’s needs and helped stabilize its prices, indicating the availability of various types of summer vegetables and fruits in the market.
It is noteworthy that the governorate produced 65,000 tons of summer vegetables last season, most of which were marketed in the local markets.
