What will happen to Bavaria's students after the summer holidays?
Prime Minister Söder made a detailed statement in Munich.
At the end of the holiday, Prime Minister Söder invited to an unusual meeting in Munich *.
In a statement, he explained how things will continue after the summer holidays at Bavaria's schools - especially with regard to the subject of mask compulsory (update August 31, 12.55 p.m.).
Söder warns: you have to be prepared for isolated school closings.
Update August 31, 2:52 p.m.:
Only 26
new coronavirus cases were
confirmed
in
Munich
yesterday (August 30)
.
Particularly for the weekend, however, the reported daily values “
are
subject to
fluctuations
, as they depend on when positive test results are sent to the health department”.
The
7-day incidence of
35.81 is still just above the "early warning value" of 35.
In # Munich, 26 new # coronavirus cases were confirmed for Sunday, August 30th (as of 11:59 p.m.).

Corona Munich: "Saurer Apfel" - mask requirement in Bavaria comes at the beginning of school
Update August 31, 1:05 p.m .:
"Schools are systemically relevant", says
Minister of Education Michael Piazolo
(Free Voters) and one is therefore in the obligation to the parents.
The
4-step plan
, which has
already been worked out and has now been adapted
, will probably be adopted tomorrow.
An
alternation
in schools is only necessary if it came in a region of more than 50 cases per 100,000 population within 7 days.
The mask requirement announced by colleague Söder is described by Piazolo as a "sour apple";
however, there was no alternative to the decision.
In the future there will be additional
school buses
, staggered
break times
, and
classrooms
should be
ventilated regularly.
Series tests have been initiated
for
teachers
.
"We have also worked out more precise standards for distance teaching," should this become necessary in some places.
Update August 31, 12.55 p.m .:
"We had hoped that the numbers would be lower after the vacation time," explains Prime Minister Söder in his statement.
The reason why this is not the case is also increasing carelessness.
The topic of
starting school is
now of enormous importance, Söder positions himself.
There were intense discussions today, but there was also a lot of agreement.
"We have a clear priority for regular lessons, we want to fulfill the educational mandate," explains the Prime Minister.
Corona Munich: Mask requirement in schools?
Söder explains how things will continue after the summer holidays
What will those responsible bring about?
“Full instruction takes precedence over distance instruction.
The mask is better than dropping out of school.
It is clearly the lesser evil than missed lessons, ”clarifies Söder.
Where does the
mask requirement apply
in Bavaria's schools from now on?
In general, they should be observed on the way to school, in public transport, in the school yard or in the corridors.
"There
will be no
general mask requirement at
primary schools
, everyone agreed," the Prime Minister announced.
In
secondary schools, however,
there is a mask requirement for the two weeks after school starts (nine school days).
According to this, this only applies if the
infection rate
(
incidence
over 35) makes it necessary - or the schools explicitly request it.
Teachers are also affected.
One has to be prepared for isolated school closings, Söder looks ahead.
Summit with the school family: safety first!
Therefore, in the first two weeks of school there is a mask requirement in secondary schools.
Thereafter, regionally limited depending on the infection rate.
Thank you for the constructive exchange with student, parent and teacher associations!

Update August 31, 10.55 a.m.:
A
press statement from
the Prime Minister has been announced
for 1 p.m.
, which we will accompany in our news ticker.
Even before today's education summit began, it became clear that opinions about the
start of
the
school year
in the pandemic differ widely.
While the state government is planning regular operations for all pupils, the education and science union is calling for the
number of pupils in schools to be
halved
and for alternate
lessons
at home.

.
At the time of the corona pandemic *, the focus is on the question of how
teaching
in
Bavaria
can be ensured
during the
corona crisis
.
Minister of Culture Michael Piazolo (FW) also takes part in the conversation.
Munich: When do students have to wear masks?
Söder asks parents to Corona meeting
It should also be a question of where
masks have to be
worn in
schools
and which other
hygiene requirements
should ensure regular operation with face-to-face teaching.
The vacation in Bavaria ends a week later on September 7th.
In
North Rhine-Westphalia
, pupils at secondary schools had to wear masks in class.
This regulation should expire this Monday.
Only elementary and special school pupils at the primary level were excluded.
Corona Munich: Söder wants to decide on a new concept - an explosive meeting is pending
Söder had always described the procedure as an interesting approach, but avoided a final opinion on whether the practice would also be used in Bavaria.
In North Rhine-Westphalia, however, the
mask requirement
in class was not without controversy.
Bavaria will finally decide on the
school concept
at a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday (September 1st) in
Munich
.
Corona Munich: Violations of the mask requirement?
Sensitive penalties threaten
In Bavaria, due to the
pandemic,
a mask is required in public transport and in places where the
minimum distance
of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained.
Violations
are punished with 250 euros and 500 euros in the
event of
repetition *.
Intensive discussion today at the Prime Minister's Conference: The corona numbers are too high too early.
We will therefore respond specifically to prevent a second lockdown.
Mask and quarantine requirements are consistently enforced and controlled.
- Markus Söder (@Markus_Soeder) August 27, 2020
A mask requirement in the school buildings outside of class and in the school buses is largely considered safe.
However, it is also still open which
regulations
there will be for teachers.
