The voluntary universal community testing program (National Testing) was launched on Tuesday (September 1).

As of noon on the first day, the planned appointment system has recorded approximately 615,000 appointment registrations.

On the first day of the plan, 99 of the 141 testing centers in Hong Kong have been fully booked. In addition, there are 14 centers temporarily. The appointments for the next seven days are full. Expert Xu Shuchang expects to extend it for another seven days.

The government should review the operation of the first day of testing to make the rest of the day smoother.

First of all, as of Monday (August 31), the appointment system has 69 cases where personal data is suspected to be used for registration by others. After verification, 33 cases are suspected to involve theft of personal data.

Although it has been transferred to the police for processing, the authorities should also study how to improve the registration system to enhance its security.

Improve venue and process

In terms of on-site arrangements, some testing centers may start on the first day, and the actual start time is later than originally scheduled, and the waiting time for crowds to gather becomes longer.

The team can make adjustments according to the time of the first day to make the inspection process more complete.

At the same time, the government can also strengthen the waiting arrangements.

At present, many testing venues do not have a specific waiting area. Therefore, although the staff of the testing center reminded the public to keep a distance of 1.5 meters in line, they may not be able to meet this condition.

Some citizens who participated in the test reported that the waiting venue is not arranged properly, and the hot weather may make the elderly feel uncomfortable.

In the coming week, the weather in Hong Kong will also be hotter. Many testing centers are full and there is expected to be a lot of people. Therefore, the waiting arrangements can be improved. One can avoid the risk of crowd gathering, and the other can enhance the experience.

If the testing venue can provide enough space for the citizens to wash their hands, disinfect and then take off their masks, the citizens will be more at ease.

In addition, some current nurses who asked for annual leave to support the testing plan told the media that they had not received any notice of working hours and location arrangements, and that they could not be connected by calling.

Even the team members on duty on the first day did not receive the notice until the evening of the previous day.

Expert Xu Shuchang predicts that the testing plan will be extended by seven days. The future manpower arrangement is believed to require more deployment. The authorities should inform the medical and nurses of the days and where they will be on duty in advance to demonstrate the ability to coordinate.

The appointments of 99 testing centers on the first day are full, which shows that many citizens also hope to find invisible patients through universal testing and reduce the risk of social transmission.

The government should work harder not to disappoint the people.
