As great as the anticipation for the first day of school is: some parents get queasy when they think about the dangers on the way to school.

Mothers from the district tell how they see the greatest danger spots.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

- The first day of school is getting closer.

It starts again in exactly one week.

For many parents of younger school children, the question now arises as to how best to prepare their child for the way to school.

The girls and boys have to know how to cross streets safely and learn how to react correctly to dangerous situations.

As of September 8, around 7,950 primary school students - including 1,230 first graders - will be out on the streets in the morning and at noon in the district alone.

This also means that all road users should be very careful.

This is exactly what mother Miriam Eberl from Bad Tölz is worried about.

Her daughter Sophia is in first grade.

“She has to go down the Easter line to get to the south school.

Some of the cars crash quite high, ”says Eberl.

Since last week she has been practicing the way to school with Sophia every other day.

“Still, I still don't dare to let her go alone.

I will always be with her for the first six months, ”says Eberl.

The mother would like to see more permanently installed speed cameras installed.

“It's not enough if you only flash a few weeks at the beginning of school.

The danger is just as great afterwards, ”she says.

The neighbor mowed a dirt path through the field for the way to school

Renate Ertl is also familiar with this situation.

Your daughter will soon be attending the 4th grade at the Tölzer Jahnschule.

“We live a bit outside on a busy street.

The exit from our property is difficult to see, and the cars and motorbikes are always racing too fast for that, ”she reports.

Fortunately, the Ertl family received support from their neighbors who mowed a dirt path for their daughter through his field so that she does not have to cross the dangerous road to the school bus.

Nevertheless, Ertl would also like to see significantly more speed controls carried out.

“Without the help of our neighbors, I would never be able to let my child walk to the school bus alone,” she says.

There were seven accidents on the way to school in the district in the past school year.

In order to prevent more, prevention is the be-all and end-all, according to the roundabout watch.

“The way to school is a real challenge for ABC shooters.

The path trained in kindergarten should be put into practice in a short time, ”says district chairwoman Ilka Fottner.

In general, she recommends choosing the safest route rather than the shortest; a detour is often worthwhile.

At best, the way to school should be walked with the child several times before the first day of school.

You should let your child find solutions independently under supervision.

When the big day has come, it must be ensured that the child sets off in good time "so that they can manage the journey in peace, even if something comes up," says Fottner.

Police want to show presence in front of the schools

Anyone bringing their child to school by car must make sure that they are properly buckled up.

When parking, make sure that the child can safely reach the school.

In general, it is important to dress the Abc shooters in such a way that they can be easily seen by other road users in all weather conditions.

Pupils should only ride their bicycles after they have passed their cycling test.

If a child takes the bus, the association also focuses on prevention.

The most dangerous situation is crossing the lane in front of or behind the bus.

“Parents should practice bus driving with their children at an early age and familiarize them with the most important rules.

Kickboards and wave boards are taboo on the way to school, ”warns the roundabout watch.

In the second week of September, safety on the way to school is also high on the agenda of the Tölz police.

"We show presence in front of the schools in the first week of school," says the deputy head of inspection, Andreas Rohrhofer.

There are also more laser controls.

“In addition, during this time there is always a focus on monitoring the seat belt and child safety requirements during our checks.

Here we get support from the operational supplementary service from Murnau, ”explains Rohrhofer.

In addition, with the youth traffic school in the primary schools, the police would give teaching units on the subject of traffic safety and train people on the way to school.
