Adviser and son-in-law of US President Donald Trump Jared Kushner landed in Bahrain today (Tuesday) and met there with King Hemed bin Issa al-Khalifa, following US efforts to persuade other countries to join the normalization process with Israel.
This, while the Israeli delegation to the United Arab Emirates returned to Israel.
According to the official news agency in the kingdom, the king told Trump's adviser that stability in the region depends on Saudi Arabia.
Bahrain is seen as likely to follow in the footsteps of the United Arab Emirates, given the common fear of Iran and its statements in favor of Israel in recent years.
In addition, it also hosted the International Conference of Palestinian Donors last year, as part of the Trump administration's "deal of the century."
However, Bahrain is dependent on Saudi Arabia, and Riyadh has made it clear that it will maintain official ties with Israel only after the establishment of a Palestinian state with its capital, East Jerusalem.
Just last week he visited the small kingdom, most of whose citizens are Shiites but is controlled by the Sony royal house, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, as part of his tour of the region.
