2020-09-01T20:03:09.820Z

From Paris to Marseille, many fiber subscribers at SFR found themselves deprived of connection Tuesday evening.

A major outage has affected SFR Internet subscribers on Tuesday since the end of the afternoon, the service provider announced in the middle of the evening.

“Due to a technical incident, some of our fiber subscribers in the region are having problems connecting to the Internet,” explains the operator on Twitter.

According to the Down detector site, major breakdowns have been reported across France, particularly in Paris, Lille, Strasbourg, Metz, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Marseille and even Lyon, from 5 p.m.

At around 9:30 p.m., the blackout was still in progress, according to numerous testimonies on social networks.

🚨 Due to a technical incident, some of our fiber subscribers in the region are having problems connecting to the Internet.

We are sincerely sorry and apologize to you.

The technical teams are mobilized to resolve this incident as quickly as possible.

The failure seems to concern SFR box holders who provide TV, Internet and telephone access.

"Internet failure in half of France, bravo @SFR for reminding us of your mediocrity in case we had zapped", ironically a dissatisfied Internet user on Twitter.

“Actually, I'm a little curious to know how a company like @SFR manages to have a national blackout for several hours.

What can cause this in only THIS operator and how can it be of this magnitude?

“Asks another Internet user.

Several of them also shared technical tips to try to work around the outage.

"Try to change the DNS server address on your devices with Google's servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Otherwise there is also the DNS server of CloudFlare (1.1.1.1) or that of Quad9 (9.9.9.9) », Explains one of them.

For its part, SFR ensures that its "technical teams are mobilized to resolve this incident as quickly as possible", without explaining, at this stage, the origin of the incident.
