In Dachau you can play billiards again - recreational players and Bundesliga cracks.

The tenant relies on healthy cooperation.

Dachau

- Finally playing billiards again in Dachau: Just in time for the new season, Dachau's successful sports club, the BSV Dachau, officially has a home again - in new premises and with a new tenant.

In the Skyline Billard Sportbar, as the tenant Gil Rieger called the new sports facility, he and his friend and business partner René Stöckner will be offering billiards, darts, gastronomy and live sports broadcasts from September 1st.

The bar in the rooms of a former fitness studio lives up to its name.

Above the Rapp car dealership on the third floor at Münchner Straße 87a, visitors have a wonderful view over Dachau.

In an interview, the 30-year-old Gil Rieger from Munich reveals what billiards and sports fans can expect from his bar above the roofs of Dachau.

Besides the beautiful view, what else does the new Skyline Billiard Sports Bar have to offer?

There are twelve billiard tables waiting to be played.

There are also four darts courts.

Of course there are all kinds of drinks and typical sports bar food such as pizza.

There will certainly be a cocktail or two later.

The people of Dachau only have to give us a little time to do this until we have settled in here.

How did you come to be a tenant?

I have been running the Happy Billard Sportbar in Martinsried for about five years, which also includes a billiards club.

The chairmen of the two associations are in contact with each other.

At the same time, of course, the name Andi Huber (editor's note: Chairman of the BSV Dachau) is known in billiard circles.

That means I've known Andi for almost five years now.

At the end of February we both had our first conversation, whether I could imagine something in Dachau.

After the third conversation at the latest, it was clear that the chemistry between the three of us, including René Stöckner, was right and that we would pull it off.

But then Corona came.

How difficult is it to open in these times?

I had to close my billiard bar in Munich for three months.

We asked ourselves whether we could let Corona destroy the thing in Dachau.

Answer: We stayed tuned.

The opening was actually planned for June.

But the permits and applications as well as the entire renovation took a little longer due to Corona.

Unfortunately, we also have to refrain from a big opening party on September 1st.

You don't turn a former gym into a sports bar overnight, right?

It started so that a change in commercial use had to be requested.

This was followed by the new fire protection regulations, after which we had to install a fire protection door.

We pulled walls, removed some of them, relocated and painted the floor, built in the bar, reupholstered the pool tables and much more.

The core of the club mainly contributed to the fact that everything went so smoothly.

Members put in countless hours of work during the lockdown.

Some also contributed to the design with their knowledge and ideas.

It's not just a billiards sports bar, but also the home of a billiards club, a very successful one at that.

How do you combine that?

With compromises.

Club and hobby players have to give each other space.

Even when training is taking place, the club may have to slide closer together for guests, on the other hand, guests have to accept when tables are reserved for the club.

It is only possible to work together, so everyone benefits from each other.

In addition, the Bundesliga and training areas can be separated from the rest - and on Sundays, for example, club members play for free.

From the club side, what can you expect here?

The association offers training courses, also for young people.

We also plan to re-establish a darts team.

BSV Dachau already had a team 20 years ago, and we know that there are still some interested players.

With René there is an experienced player.

He founded his own darts team in Martinsried in 2014 and has made good progress with it.

Darts fans will also get their money's worth

Darts is experiencing a real hype.

Then why not Skyline Billiard Darts Sports Bar?

We actually wanted to have darts in our name at first.

Despite the hype, darts still has a bad reputation.

Many associate darts with a binge.

We were therefore advised against it.

It is also important for us to emphasize that we are not a sports bar, but a sports bar.

We welcome children and young people.

We have no slot machines, no shishas, and we do not accept sports betting.

What about football broadcasts?

Of course, football matches are broadcast live and there is even a bit of renovation for certain games.

Back to billiards, how can you imagine playing during Corona?

Disinfectants are available, the distance must be maintained and mouth and nose cover must be worn to the seat or to the table.

We also allow a maximum of three players at a pool table at peak times so that the distance to the neighboring table can be maintained and our employees are also safe.

How much does an hour of playing pool cost?

The hour costs 11.40 euros, each additional minute or part thereof 19 cents.

That was important to me because it always annoys me to pay more than I actually play.

Our drinks and food prices are also humane, after all, the BSV Dachau has a large youth department and the youngsters have to be able to afford their meals.

The opening times

The opening times: Monday to Thursday 4pm to midnight, Friday from 4pm to 1am, Saturday from 3pm to 1am and Sunday from 3pm to midnight.
