A new - and atypical - television season begins.
One in which open fiction in the United States will be at a low level and in which uncertainty will be the protagonist.
Even so, in a month usually full of premieres, this year is not short either and there are several juicy titles.

Skam
Last season of the Spanish adaptation of the popular Norwegian youth series.
Little by little it has managed to find a place among an audience that consumes fiction in another way and has managed to take advantage of the originality of its format, with small video clips and photos that are distributed by its official accounts throughout the week before becoming a traditional episode.
In the fourth and last installment, the story focuses on Amira, the young Muslim girl from the group of protagonist friends, who lives the challenge of staying true to her beliefs and customs in a world that looks at her strangely for wearing a hijab.

It begins on Thursday 3 with its first video of the season.

The Boys
What if the superheroes are not as good or as exemplary as they are supposed to be?
The first season of this series won the favor of a legion of fans thanks to its combination of black humor, cheek and
popcorn

After what happened in the previous chapters, the characters have to try to regroup and rebuild their lives now that The Boys and The Supers know each other a little better, in plots that maintain that hooligan touch and a bit of gore.
Where and when to see it?
Amazon Prime Video has changed the strategy and this time it will launch the first three episodes on Friday 4 and the rest will arrive every Friday to end on October 9.
Away
Hillary Swank is the protagonist of this space adventure that, in essence, is a more conventional family drama than the series itself believes.
Astronaut Emma Green is the captain of the international crew for the first mission to Mars, which will force those involved to be separated from their families for three years.
In Emma's case, she leaves behind a NASA engineer husband (played by Josh Charles) and a teenage daughter.
Also, some of the crew members soon question her ability as a leader.
The emotion and the drama are above the spatial, at least in its start.

It premieres on Netflix on the 4th.
Upright
A man travels through the Australian desert carrying a piano to say goodbye to his terminally ill mother.
His path accidentally crosses that of a teenage girl who seems quite angry with the world.
This peculiar couple is the protagonist of this
road movie,
with a humor that is also quite peculiar and even surreal, starring and written by the Australian comedian and musician Tim Minchin.
The best thing is not to expect anything conventional from this series and to let yourself go.
A very interesting proposal.

It kicks off on Monday the 7th on Sundance TV.
Raised by Wolves
Although Ridley Scott frequents the television world as a producer, this is his debut as a series director.
He takes control of the first two episodes of this science fiction story starring Travis Fimmel that takes place on an apparently uninhabited planet at a time when the Earth has been destroyed.
Two androids will have to raise and protect a child, a mission that is complicated by the arrival of a colony of humans faced by religious differences.
The American critics highlight his ambitious start that deflates later.
At least its wickers are interesting.
Will have to see.

TNT brings this production of HBO Max to Spain from Thursday 10.
Idhun's memories
The anime that adapts Laura Gallego's bestseller has made quite a lot of noise in the weeks leading up to its launch for its controversial dubbing, criticized by some fans (and by the writer herself) for prioritizing media faces over the experience as voice actors (With the exception of Michelle Jenner, hardened in those struggles).
In five half-hour episodes the story of The Resistance, the first volume of the collection, is collected, where Jack and Victoria fight to stop Kirtash, the assassin sent by Ashran to finish off the Idhunites.
Beyond previous controversies, the verdict will be dictated by fans of the saga.

The third day
Its premiere was scheduled for May but the pandemic delayed it until this fall.
Jude Law and Naomi Harris are the protagonists of this miniseries divided into two parts, the first starring him and the second, her.
Its two characters are attracted to an island where its inhabitants try to preserve their traditions at any cost.

We Are Who We Are
Luca Guadagnino (
Call Me By Your Name
) makes his television debut directing all eight episodes of this story about two American boys living on a military base in Italy.
A shy 14-year-old moves from New York to a military base in Veneto with his mothers, both in the US Army, where he meets Caitlin and her group of friends.
Together they explore the roller coaster of being a teenager, identity and love on this small American island in the middle of Italy.
A very promising intimate drama.

It premieres on the 15th on HBO Spain.
Ratched
Mildred Ratched, the nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for which Louise Fletcher won an Oscar, is the star of Ryan Murphy's new production (although its creator is actually Evan Romansky).
Sarah Paulson gives life to such a disturbing character, whose adventures are followed from the moment she arrives at the Lucia psychiatric hospital, whose director sets in motion revolutionary processes to treat everything that was then classified as mental ailments.
A kind of
American Horror Story
with Hitchcocknian music and homages to the classics.
Sharon Stone and Cynthia Nixon are part of the cast.
And for now, so far we can read.

Homeland
Little more can we say at this point about one of the most anticipated Spanish series of 2020 and that will finally see the light after a rather bumpy journey, finished off by a delay of several months in its premiere due to the pandemic.
It is the story of two friends and two families confronted by ETA terrorism.
A look at the open wounds of the recent Spanish past through the family drama of Bittori and Miren, marked by the murder of Txato.
It will premiere at the San Sebastián festival.
And now only the trailers aim very high.
