Defendant You Jiacheng (51 years old), a former regional sales director of Centaline Property, was charged with two counts, namely, one providing benefits to an agent, violating Article 9(2)(a) of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance, and one fraud. Violation of section 16A of the Theft Ordinance.

The defendant joined Centaline Property in June 2001 and was promoted to senior regional sales manager in August 2011, responsible for managing a branch in Causeway Bay.

He was promoted to Regional Sales Director in February 2018.

As the person in charge of Centaline Real Estate, the defendant can apply for reimbursement of communication expenses with the guests, and can also bring his property agents to attend business dinners.

A parking lot in a private residential building in Mid-Levels was put on sale in 2017, with a price ranging from RMB 250 million to RMB 260 million.

The defendant made an appointment in February 2018 and proposed to cooperate with one of its real estate agents to sell the property.

The corruption charge alleges that between February 23 and March 9, 2018, the defendant, without legal authority or reasonable excuse, provided the above-mentioned estate agent with a commission of 1 million yuan as a transaction for the other party to transfer the above-mentioned property from Centaline Property. Incentives or remuneration from an unidentified estate agency company.

The fraud charge alleges that between November 7, 2016 and June 29, 2018, the defendant falsely stated to Centaline Property that the person whose name was listed on the 21 application forms for social expenses had been listed in the application form. He attended business dinners on various relevant dates and attempted to defraud and induced Centaline Property to return a total of more than 31,000 yuan to him, which resulted in him gaining benefits or Centaline Property’s disadvantage.

Centaline Property provides comprehensive assistance during the ICAC investigation.

The defendant has been granted bail by the ICAC pending his hearing on Thursday.
