US President Donald Trump visited the city of Knosh, Wisconsin, today (Tuesday), not to comfort the family of the black man who was shot by a white police officer, but to express support for law enforcement in the city, following the civil unrest that erupted after the incident.

While the United States is polarized on issues of racial injustice and the use of force by the police, Trump addresses his white supporters base with a message of "law and order," as opinion polls show he is narrowing the gap with his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden.

The Republican president did not visit Jacob Blake, who remained paralyzed from the waist down after the shooting a white police officer fired at his back on August 23, nor his family, but nevertheless, planned to meet with his mother's pastor.

He promised to rebuild Kanosha, and provide federal funds to Wisconsin, a politically close-knit state that Trump barely won in 2016, and he desperately needs another victory in the state, to be re-elected on November 3rd.

The president visited a furniture store that burned and was destroyed during recent days' demonstrations, and then also praised the National Guard soldiers who were called in to reinforce local police over several nights of peaceful protest that soon gave way to looting, arson and shooting.

"These are not acts of peaceful protest, but really local terrorism," Trump told a group of local businessmen at a local high school, with Attorney General Bill Bar and Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf.
