Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov revealed that his country has confirmed information about acts to destabilize Belarus that are being carried out from the territory of Ukraine.
Lavrov said during a joint press conference with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makee in Moscow today: “This information concerns the presence of about 200 extremist elements in Belarus who have been prepared and trained in Ukraine,” stressing the need for the competent authorities to deal with these.
He pointed out that for the first time, Belarus is facing the threat of instability, and this is being done through “vigorous” external interference, adding: “We condemn the pressure that a number of foreign countries are currently trying to exert on the legitimate authorities in Belarus in parallel with its open support for the opposition.”
Lavrov rejected attempts to internationalize the events of Belarus, stressing that Moscow and Minsk do not intend to discuss the situation in Belarus in international forums, and that his country will work "firmly" to prevent any attempts to implement provocations against Minsk from abroad, and said: "When those who try to destabilize the situation in Belarus and those who have tried are seeking For several years, through the clumsy courtship of Minsk, separating Belarus from Russia and undermining the foundations of the Union State, we will respond to them appropriately and firmly.
Russian Presidents Vladimir Putin and Belarus Alexander Lukashenko confirmed during a recent telephone conversation their mutual readiness to strengthen the alliance between the two countries, while Lukashenko recently revealed that the United States is behind the planning and implementation of the unrest in his country while the Europeans comply with its orders.
