SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, 09/03/2020.- The president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo (i), is congratulated by the opposition spokespersons, Gonzalo Caballero (PSOE) and Ana Pontón (BNG), upon being proclaimed president after the vote in the full investiture, today Thursday in the Galician Parliament, in Santiago de Compostela.

Although without admitting a single criticism of the opposition to his management, Alberto Núñez Feijóo has accepted this Thursday, in the debate of the investiture session in which he has been re-elected president of the Xunta with the votes of his group, the offer of "outstretched hand" that the spokesmen of BNG and PSOE, Ana Pontón and Gonzalo Caballero have made.

Both proposed an agreement to rebuild Galicia after the hit of the pandemic after failing his management of the last decade.

Feijóo has responded to them urging them to win the 2024 elections. "The elections have already passed," he has told them, although he has promised to listen to them.

And he has once again confronted his management of the pandemic with that of Pedro Sánchez, whom he has asked for loyalty to Galicia.

"I have come here to ask for help in the face of a situation [that of the health crisis] never experienced in Spain," the president explained in his first speech, making it clear that what he is looking for is a commitment "to remove health from the political debate ”.

A statement that he corrected hours later, pointing out that he had been wrongly expressed.

Faced with criticism from the opposition to his administration, Feijóo has boasted of having made Galicia "the second autonomous community with the highest growth in terms of GDP per capita in the last decade" and that, "despite the economic crisis and the covid have fewer unemployed than when we acceded to the government of the Xunta for the first time, 11 years ago ”.

In the comparison, it has included the female employment rate, which has placed "above the rest of Spain", and the youth unemployment rate, "five points below the Spanish average", data that the opposition has refuted.

After thanking the "hand extended to speak seriously", he stated that "it would be good to agree on something: the management of the pandemic, European funds or the figures" because, he pointed out, "we do not have a single data on the Government".

"I come to ask for help because what we have ahead will not be easy and we do not have an agreement in Spain to know when a school community is left without class because the central government does not want to speak," he said before claiming loyalty to Sánchez.

"I want to count on the Government of Spain and I put myself at your disposal and that is why I ask you to be loyal and constructive with Galicia as Galicia is with Spain", he highlighted.

Recognizing that she will not do what the opposition tells her "because their priorities will not be ours," she has promised to listen.

And she said goodbye with a "Galicia, Galicia, Galicia and for the fourth time Galicia" with which her voice broke.
