Bahraini news agency Bana reported tonight (Thursday) that an official source in the Civil Aviation Authority at the Ministry of Transport, stated that approval had been given for a request from the UAE, to allow aircraft from all countries to pass over the airspace of the kingdom.

This means that aircraft from Israel will be able to fly to and from the Arab Federation - over the airspace of Bahrain.

Since the announcement of the agreement to normalize relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, there has been talk of the possibility that Bahrain may be the next country to follow this path.

Last month, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Bahrain and met with King Hamed al-Khalifa.

At this meeting, the King emphasized his support for a two-state solution regarding the Palestinian issue.

As you may recall, only on Wednesday did the Saudi state news agency, Spa, confirm that Israeli planes could fly over its territory, after a special statement from the government said that airlines "from all countries" could use Saudi airspace.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the Saudi announcement at the time and said in a video speech: "For years I have been working to open up the skies of Israel to the east. The big news was two and a half years ago, when Air India received permission to fly directly to Israel. "Israeli planes and planes from all countries will be able to fly directly from Israel to Abu Dhabi, to Dubai and back. It will reduce flights, it will shorten time, it will develop tremendous tourism, it will open our economy."
