The United States announced sanctions on 11 foreign companies on September 3, suspected of assisting Iran in exporting oil, petroleum products and petrochemical products, violating US sanctions.

These include 5 Hong Kong registered companies, 3 UAE companies, 2 Iranian companies and 1 Mainland China company.

The Ministry of Finance sanctioned six companies for allegedly assisting Iran in carrying and selling petrochemical products, and supported the Hong Kong company Zhongxiang Petrochemical Co., Ltd., which was blacklisted by the United States.

The State Council also announced sanctions on five companies, accusing them of participating in Iranian oil and petrochemical industry-related transactions, and three other company executives were also sanctioned.

The sanctioned Hong Kong companies include Ding Lin Co., Ltd., Dynapex Energy Limited, Jing Hao Technology Co., Ltd., Xinda International Logistics Co., Ltd. and China Energy Shipping (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd.

Washington will freeze any American assets of the companies involved and prohibit business dealings with Americans.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated that the actions reiterated that the United States is committed to preventing the Iranian regime from obtaining the financial resources it needs to support terrorism and other destabilizing activities.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin pointed out that the Iranian regime uses the proceeds from exporting petrochemicals to continue to fund terrorism and destabilize foreign agendas.
