From this Friday, Maria Spadt from Hohenpolding will be showing relief-like works of high craftsmanship and artistic quality in the Erdinger Frauenkircherl.

Erding -

mysterious landscapes in hazy twilight, lush strawberry tendrils that are reminiscent of Pop Art, pictures in which graphic elements are combined with the underlying luminosity of the colors to form a complete work: Maria Spadt's relief-like works are of high technical and artistic quality.

The works can be seen from today in the Frauenkircherl.

The artist works in her studio in Großaign near Hohenpolding, studied at the art academy in Munich, later trained as a restorer and worked for many years in castles, churches and in the diocesan museum.

Spadt also worked in the Altenerdingen parish church and restored the ancestral gallery in Fraunberg Castle.

In 1994 she started her own business.

The sensitive and confident handling of old, complex techniques is an essential part of Spadt's purely artistic work.

With a complicated, lengthy layer structure, self-made casein paints and the final polish, the Hohenpoldinger achieved a characteristic spatial and color effect.

The result is "beautiful reflections with the light, as if the sun were walking along".

And indeed: the images seem to change depending on the angle of view and the incidence of light.

There is a lot to discover there.

“I love the shiny surfaces,” says Spadt with a smile.

When she works in her studio, she looks at a landscape with lots of green and has “calm before her eyes”.

This silence flows into the design as well as everyday observations.

Some things are predefined by technology, others are created by “controlled chance”.

The artist works on a single picture for at least 40 to 60 hours.

It can also be two weeks.

The retrospective in the Frauenkircherl is Maria Spadt's first public presentation this year after everything was canceled on the art markets due to the Corona crisis.

For this reason alone, the Erdinger exhibition is "totally important", not least for "your own work motivation".

The exhibition is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. until Saturday, September 12th.
