The crooks are getting bolder: On Thursday a fraudster tried to lure a Eurasburger woman into the trap with a combination of the grandchildren and criminal investigation trick.
But the 91-year-old smelled the roast: she notified the "real" police.
Eurasburg
- Fraudsters used a new scam on Thursday: They combined the grandchildren's trick with the “false police” scam.
A 91-year-old Eurasburger received a call around noon.
The man on the other end of the line posed as her grandson.
The elderly woman found that suspicious and she hung up.
Eurasburg: Fraudsters combined grandchildren and criminal investigation trick on the phone
A little later the "Kripo" called the Eurasburger in order to warn her about the fraudster who had just posed to her as her grandson.
"The fraudsters, disguised as Kripo, obviously used the first call as grandchildren to increase their authenticity," reports Chief Inspector Steffen Frühauf.
But the old lady did not fall for this bold scam either.
Immediately after the call, she turned to the Wolfratshausen Police Department.
The officers immediately investigated the attempted fraud.
Con artists also struck again in Wolfratshausen and Münsing in the summer.
But the crooks were seen through every time.
