A fire burned about a hundred hectares of brush and low vegetation on Friday in a military camp serving as an aerial firing range near Captieux, in the south of the Gironde, we learned from the firefighters.

The incident, of unspecified origin, broke out in the afternoon and the fire control operation, which mobilized around thirty firefighters from Gironde as well as reinforcements from the Landes and military resources present on site. , was being finalized around 10 p.m.
The so-called Poteau camp, whose official name is Champ de Tir et Polygone d'Essai (CTPE) of Captieux, serves in particular as a shooting practice site for air force devices.
According to firefighters, the fire did not go out of the limits of this camp, a huge land of nearly 10,000 hectares straddling the Gironde and the Landes, in the east of the Landes de Gascogne forest.
