Extreme heat conditions prevailed in different parts of the country during the day and several fires broke out in different places.

At several measuring stations in the Arava, 50 degrees of heat was recorded.

A large fire broke out on Mount Tabor and consumed large areas of woodland. 

Last night (Thursday through Friday) broke some records of minimum temperatures, meaning we experienced the hottest night.

These are records for the whole year and not just for September.

This is according to measurements by the Meteorological Service. 

In Jerusalem the minimum was 31.5 and the previous absolute peak 30.5 was in June 1942 (in September the previous minimum was 28.7 from 2015).

In Beit Dagan the minimum night was 28.9 and this breaks the record for each year of 28.4 from August 2015 (to September 27.9 from 2015).

In Safed, Mount Canaan, there were 30.3 and the absolute minimum for the entire year was 30.0 in August 2010 (September 27, 2015).

The Negev measured 28.1 and the absolute peak for the whole year was 28.0 from August 2015 (to September 27.4 from 2015).
