A power cut plunged into darkness about 270,000 homes Thursday evening in four departments, half of which in Haute-Vienne, said Réseau de Transport d'Electricité (RTE).
The cut took place at 9:26 p.m. according to a tweet from the body responsible for managing the high-voltage electricity network and affected 163,000 households in Haute-Vienne, notably in Limoges, 53,000 in Creuse, 54,000 in Indre and 2,400 in Corrèze.
RTE referred to "
an incident in the Eguzon substation
", in the south of the Indre. In a tweet, the mayor of Châteauroux Gil Avérous explained that the problem was due to a "
faulty high voltage line
". The end of the cut was announced a little before midnight, by RTE, which presented “
its apologies for the inconvenience caused
”.
