A Lebanese army unit arrested members of a terrorist cell linked to the ISIS terrorist organization that was carrying out attacks inside Lebanon.
A statement issued today by the Directorate of Guidance in the Army Command stated that “the leader of the cell is the terrorist in hiding, called Khaled al-Talawi, whose car was used by the perpetrators of the Kaftoun crime on 8/21-2020.”
On August 21, 3 people were killed in the town of Kaftoun, in northern Lebanon.
The statement added that the elements of the terrorist cell were arrested in a series of security operations in the North and the Bekaa regions on different dates, and it was found that they had received military training, collected weapons and ammunition, and carried out several thefts in order to finance the activities of the aforementioned terrorist cell.
The statement indicated that the eradication of this cell comes within the framework of pre-emptive operations and permanent follow-up of terrorist organizations and cells associated with them.
