Will you be a presidential candidate in 2022?
The question was asked in public and directly to François Baroin, Saturday afternoon, at Port-Marly (Yvelines) by the young assistant from Saint-Cloud (Hauts-de-Seine).
"
I will not answer you
," replied the mayor of Troyes, guest star of the LR Youth Rendezvous, before explaining the reasons for his refusal.
The party is in “
convalescence
”, the senatorial ones are in sight and the realities of the country reveal other priorities.
"
I did not meet a person in Troyes or elsewhere who told me about the presidential election,
" he stressed.

Above all, Baroin gave the feeling of not wanting to submit his response to the pressures of a political topicality which has proved turbulent for the right recently.
He pledged to unveil his intentions "
in due time, responsibly, with the passion of the country
" and with "
the will to do everything to be a factor of union and not of division
" for the Republicans.
