The prison staff union UFAP Unsa called on Saturday for a blockade of the prison in Valence (Drôme), after an attack with boiling oil of which a prisoner and two guards were victims a few hours earlier.

The detainee concerned, who seems to have been the target of a settling of scores, will be helicoptered to a Lyon hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries, Sylvain Royère, local secretary of the union, told AFP.
The assault took place around 12 noon on Saturday, when meals were distributed in the cell, carried out by two supervisors assisted by a detainee.
When the door to his cell was opened, another prisoner threw the contents of a pan of boiling oil at his fellow inmate, then slashed him with a shard of a mirror.
One of the supervisors was burnt on the arms without too much gravity by splashes of oil, the second more seriously on the face.
The aggressor detainee was transported to the disciplinary unit.
One of the most recent in France, the Valence penitentiary center allows inmates to keep fryers and kitchen accessories in cells to improve their everyday life.
UFAP Unsa calls for the establishment to be blocked on Monday from 6 a.m. to demand a search of the place as well as the withdrawal of the fryers and oil, said Sylvain Royère.
