French Health Minister Olivier Ferrand confirmed today that France must continue to be careful about the entry of more people with Covid 19 to intensive care units in hospitals during the next two weeks.
According to Reuters, Ferrand ruled out that there would be a need to impose new measures of general isolation across the country and said that "France has several other ways to fight the virus, including conducting tests."
"We are not facing the same level of an outbreak as it happened last spring ... We are now witnessing an increase in infections at slower rates, but it is a rate that requires vigilance and caution," Ferran added.
Yesterday, the health authorities in France recorded 8,975 new confirmed cases of the virus, which is approximately 1,500 more than the daily peak of 7,578 infections that was previously recorded on March 31, when France was imposing one of the most stringent public isolation measures in Europe.
As of yesterday, the total deaths in the country reached 30,686.
