"Neither the Civil Guard nor anything, we are going to kill you and bury you right here."

Ciri and Cabrera did not hesitate, it was noticing that three agents were approaching their marijuana crops hidden among the bushes in the Bornos swamp (Cádiz) and opened fire with their shotguns without mercy.

The declaration of intent, uttered loudly and amid a burst of hunting pellets, still echoes in the head of one of the injured Civil Guards, according to one of the comrades who has been able to speak with him.

“That could have turned into a massacre.

They didn't even have time to talk, ”adds the same source with evident concern about some events that occurred last Wednesday afternoon.

The three agents are wounded of varying degrees and one serious, although there is no fear for his life, while one of the two alleged drug traffickers continues to flee.

What these two bandits were willing to protect even with blood was revealed this Friday, when the Civil Guard of Cádiz shared images and videos of the marijuana plantations that were hidden between an area of trees and bushes of El Tarajal, a rural area on the outskirts of the town of Bornos (7,800 inhabitants) and nestled in the Sierra de Cádiz.

The alleged drug traffickers took advantage of the abundant water in the territory, watered by a stream and the nearby Bornos reservoir, to hide scattered orchards of maría.

The helicopter flights of the Armed Institute make visible small clearings in which you can see the cannabis plants, but they were not easy to see on the ground.

"You have to look for them to find them," says an agent.

Investigators continue to count how many marijuana plants accumulated in those isolated crops and have not yet released an official number of seizures.

However, a civil guard familiar with the case assures that, at least, there are six orchards that the drug traffickers had set up.

The agents have also located a tent in which Ciri and Cabrera sporadically made a living doing surveillance to prevent their crops from being discovered.

From there, at least the two of them - the investigators are analyzing whether there was anyone else with them - went out in the face of the three Civil Guards who were carrying out inspection work in the area, without giving them time to speak.

The same agent who has been able to speak with the injured assures that the comrades who continue taking tests have located up to 60 shotgun shells scattered among the plantations.

“They were hitting shots.

The two agents who were not so serious dragged the one who was worse - he has a serious injury to his leg - about a kilometer to get him out of there, ”says the same source.

The civil guards came with the suspicion that there might be maria crops, just at a time when the flowering of this plant is taking place, "but they could not even imagine that they were going to receive them with shotguns", as he adds the colleague who has been able to speak with them.

Hours after the altercation, the agents managed to find one of the two suspects: JCB, alias

Ciri

.

Despite the fact that more than 200 agents have been deployed around the Sierra, JSC, known as

Cabrera,

continues to give no clues as to his whereabouts.

Those who know the area, characterized by its rugged orography, its masses of dense forest and numerous secondary roads are not surprised that Cabrera is so elusive.

"It is known as the palm of your hand, it will be difficult to find," said an agent of the Civil Guard.

Ciri and Cabrera are now attributed in this case alleged crimes of attempted homicide, illegal possession of weapons, attack on Agents of the Authority and cultivation and production of marijuana.

They add this string of serious charges to a record as common criminals.

The Civil Guard has had Ciri on file since 2010, when he was just an 18-year-old.

But a few years ago, both of them reoriented their careers as criminals to the cultivation of maría that, every time, proliferated with more assiduity in small towns in the interior of the province of Cádiz.

Now, both are listed as possible responsible for other crops scattered throughout the Sierra.

They were able to see that the context was favorable to them: various locations in the Sierra de Cádiz, humid and steep enough to plant discrete marijuana plantations, have been clamoring for a greater presence of the Civil Guard for years, whose staff in the area add up to an important decline, as denounced for a long time by professional associations such as the AUGC.

Meanwhile, Cabrera continues in search and capture, lost in the mountains, knowing that he has crossed a much more serious barrier than being responsible for planting marijuana crops in the middle of the Sierra de Cádiz.
