Charles Leclerc's violent exit from the road in Monza

2020-09-06T14:39:30.785Z

The Monegasque driver crashed off the track during the 25th round of the Italian Grand Prix, causing the race to be interrupted. The sad end of a weekend to forget for Ferrari.

As expected, Sunday was dark at Ferrari.

Very black.

From the 8th lap, Sebastian Vettel was forced to retire due to a brake problem.

And 17 laps later, the second red single-seater, that of Charles Leclerc, went into the safety tires at over 200 km / h.

A violent off-track, fortunately without consequences on the physical level for the Monegasque, who passed - and came out quickly - from the medical center in Monza.

An exit from the track which would be due, a priori, to a pilot fault on the part of Leclerc, who lost the rear of his car before slipping on the green strip along the track and suffering a violent shock.

A year ago, almost to the day, the Monegasque celebrated the second victory of his career here, Ferrari's first on his land for nine years.

Almost an eternity on the scale of the Scuderia.

But the beautiful smile of last year has totally disappeared this year with this Bérézina at home.

The Grand Prix was interrupted for a good half an hour, while Lewis Hamilton, in the lead, will have to observe a penalty of ten seconds.

Suffice to say that the suspense promises to be complete for the victory.
