The one-year postponement of the Legislative Council election was originally scheduled to be held yesterday (September 6). Netizens called for a demonstration in the Kowloon area to oppose the "National Security Law", the postponement of the election and the health code.

"Wildcat-style" protests occurred in the Yau Mong area, and the police fired pepper balls to disperse them.

As of 9 pm last night, the police stated that 289 people had been arrested, of which 270 were suspected of "illegal assembly"; the rest were divided equally into "attacking police officers" and "obstructing police officers from performing their duties."

Yau Tsim Mong District Council Vice Chairman Yu Tak Po said on Facebook that more than 160 arrested persons were detained at Hung Hom Police Station.

At about 1 am today (7th), nearly a hundred family members were still waiting outside the police station, and arrested persons were released and left.

District councillors and volunteers were present to provide assistance and deliver food to family members and arrested persons.

A young man who was released stated that he left the parking lot of the Yau Ma Tei Government Offices at about 4 pm yesterday, passing Wing Sing Lane near Nathan Road, and was suddenly arrested by the police when he pulled up a cordon. Everyone at the scene included elderly people. They were arrested together for "illegal assembly" and criticized the police action for "chaos!" He also said that in the police station, "you have to go to the toilet, there is no air-conditioning, no fan, so it's so hot!" Some people even fainted until the early morning appointment. He was released at 1 o'clock.
