Washington-SANA

The US police arrested dozens of people and used tear gas to disperse hundreds of protesters in Portland, Oregon, last night, as the city marked the 100th day since the outbreak of protests organized by the Black Lives Matter movement, against racism and police violence.

The French Press Agency reported that the police forces, who arrested dozens of protesters during hit-and-run operations in a residential area in East Portland, announced that at least one person had been injured, while Portland police wrote on Twitter, "These are riots ... the police are asking those present to move away and disperse ... The demonstrators throw Molotov cocktails ”to justify their suppression and the use of tear gas to disperse the protesters.

"It has been the 100th day of the (Black Lives Matter) protests in Portland since the killing of George Floyd, and they wanted to prevent us from continuing our march," said 20-year-old demonstrator Jay, with red eyes due to the tear gas. "It is our constitutional right to be here and express ourselves."

Protesters in Portland, northwestern, USA, continue their demonstrations against the repression and brutality of the US police, which was embodied by the murder of African American Floyd by suffocation late last May, and that heinous incident sparked demonstrations and protests in many American cities and around the world.
