The fire brigade in Homs and the civil defense personnel today extinguished a large fire in the village of Halat in the Tal Kalakh area, and another fire in the village of Anaz in the western countryside of Homs.
Brigadier General Ghayath Aqil, Director of Civil Defense in Homs, said in a statement to SANA that the fire in Halat village spread over an area of about two hundred acres of olive trees and forest trees, explaining that the civil defense and firefighting teams put out the fire despite the great difficulties they encountered due to the rugged areas and the intensity of the strong winds. It caused its extension to large areas, indicating that the cause of the fire was a significant increase in temperatures.
Aqil mentioned that the civil defense personnel in Homs and the people also put out a fire of olive trees and herbs near the fuel station in Anaz village in the western countryside of Homs, which caused about 40 trees to be completely burned.
It is noteworthy that the cadres of the Homs Fire Brigade were able to extinguish a fire that broke out in the woodlands of the town of Baiyoun in the western countryside of Homs.
