"

It was agreed (...) to allow the medical evacuation of Mr. Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta for humanitarian reasons for a maximum period of one month

", declares the National Committee of Public Safety (CNSP), set up by the putschists, in a press release on Sunday.

This one-month period is "

extendable only on medical advice

" and "

could not exceed three months, in which case the medical follow-up will be in Mali

", says the CNSP, made up of colonels who overthrew President Keïta on August 18, 75, who had been in power for seven years.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) "

undertakes to ensure the return of former President Ibahim Boubacar Keïta immediately after his medical stay under the aforementioned conditions

", adds the

press

release signed by Colonel Malick Diaw , number two of the CNSP.

The junta affirms that this commitment took place following "

the discussions initiated by the mediator of the ECOWAS (the former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan) with the Malian authorities from August 22 to 25

".

The former Malian president left Bamako on Saturday evening for the United Arab Emirates on a special flight with two people whose identities have not been disclosed.

His departure abroad for treatment had been envisaged shortly after his fall.

He clarified at the beginning of the week following, according to his doctors, a short stroke for which he was hospitalized Tuesday in a clinic in Bamako that he left Thursday.
