After Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu succumbed to ultra-Orthodox pressure and refrained from imposing a closure on the red cities, it was decided tonight (Sunday) in the Ministerial Committee that a night closure would be imposed on 40 red cities across the country.

According to the outline, the night closure will take place between 19:00 in the evening and 05:00 in the morning.

The formal education system will also close in the eight new red cities, starting Tuesday.

Informal education frameworks will work.

Also, businesses will close except for essential businesses starting at 7 p.m.

The outline was brought to the ministers' approval after a discussion held by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with Health Minister Yuli Edelstein and Haredi ministers Aryeh Deri and Yaakov Litzman.

In the shadow of the ultra-Orthodox pressure, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri said tonight in an interview with News 13 that Netanyahu told him and Minister Litzman that even if a closure was imposed on the Tishrei holidays, prayers would be allowed.

Conflict in the Ministerial Committee

At the same time, during the same discussion in the Ministerial Committee in which it was decided to close the night in the red cities, a confrontation began between Economy Minister Amir Peretz and Finance Minister Israel Katz.

Peretz wanted to set up a team to determine the economic traffic light that would establish clear procedures for compensation for employers and employees who would be forced to close their businesses as a result of closure.

Katz opposed the move and told Peretz: "I am the finance minister, and I am responsible for the issue. You will deal with your office."

In response, Peretz replied that he was the one in charge of small and medium-sized businesses.

"They are my domain and I take care of them," he said.

"I object to the matter and I do not want to discuss it now," Katz replied angrily, "it is not your responsibility."

Economy Minister Peretz did not give up and the debate continued.

"A member of the government and I care about the general public, this issue is related to the discussion and I want a team to be set up that will clearly determine the issue of compensation during a closure."

Later, Prime Minister Netanyahu intervened and told Peretz to transfer his plans directly to him, so that he could examine them in person.
