The MVG adjusts its timetables at the start of school.
More buses are also being used because of Corona, but there are bottlenecks in the subway and tram.
When school starts on September 8th, the MVG is changing its timetables.
To cope with the increased number of passengers in Munich *, more buses are being used.
However, there are bottlenecks in the subway and tram, among other things due to construction sites.
Munich - At the start of the new
school year
, the
Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) is
again
using
repeater buses
.
According to the timetable, around 70 additional vehicles will run this year to meet the number of passengers in school traffic.
In addition, in many cases larger vehicles are used than during holiday periods.
From September
8, this will
also apply for the first time to the city bus line 189, which
goes to the
Unterföhring grammar school.
In Freiham, the
MVG is
improving
the range of MetroBus 57 and StadtBus 143 services. In the afternoons, the intervals on both lines will be condensed in order to better connect the new school center in particular at this time of day.
MVG problems due to Corona and construction sites: The subway lacks drivers
In the
subway
, it depends on two lines to
restrictions
: As in the past been the driving
U4
in the rush hour every ten instead of five minutes but with longer trains (six instead of four wagons).
The
U7
amplifier line will
run until Friday, September 18, only between the Olympia shopping center and Sendlinger Tor.
Passengers are asked to use the rest of the route to use the
U2
and
U5
.
From Monday, September 21, the
U7 can
once again
serve
the entire route between the
Olympia shopping center and Neuperlach center
.
The reason for the changes is a
lack of staff
.
The
MVG
reports
that the training of new drivers
has not yet made up
for the
backlog
caused by the
lockdown
.
At the same time, the underground operations around the point renewal on the
U3 / U6
tie up
additional drivers.
The MVG regrets the restrictions.
MVG: Changes also to the tram
In addition to the closure of the
U3 / U6
due to the
renewal
of points at
Münchner Freiheit
, there are currently also changes to the
tram's operations due
to construction sites: The renewal and expansion of the tracks at the
main station * will
lead to diversions and interruptions on
lines 16
until November
, 17, 19, 20/21 and 29
.
MVG recommends: Leave earlier
In principle, the
MVG
recommends that
all
students
leave as early as possible.
This helps to equalize the number of passengers.
"This way, the space in buses and trains is used more evenly - and everyone is better on the move," advertises the MVG, which for this reason also advocates staggering the teaching times at the schools.
The
mask
should be as naturally a part of the stops and in the vehicles as the school satchel:
mouth and nose
must always be covered in public transport, just like in school.
Compared to the
pre-Corona period
, the demand for
MVG's means of transport is
currently around 70 percent.
The number of passengers is therefore almost a third lower than before the pandemic.
At the same time, higher occupancy rates are possible, especially in work and school traffic.
