There is also nothing to suggest a clash between rival gangs, said Steve Graham of West Midlands Police at a press conference.

The police opened a murder investigation.
According to initial findings, the attacks occurred in four different locations in the city center between 0.30 a.m. and 2.30 a.m. (local time).
According to the police, there is a connection between the attacks.
Initially, nothing was known about the identity of the victims.
The police only said that the seriously injured were a woman and a man.
Five other people were rushed to hospital with minor injuries.
The police had been alerted around 12:30 a.m. about an attack in the city center.
Shortly thereafter, "a number of other attacks with a stabbing weapon" were reported in the area.
British television showed on Sunday morning that large areas of the
city center were cordoned off
and police officers in protective suits were investigating the scene.

eyewitness described details
of the incidents in the English city.
According to Cara Curran, it was said to have been a
fight between two groups of young people
.
At around 0.30 a.m. local time, the club owner had had a drink with her colleagues when she heard a “loud bang” and “racist insults”, she said in an interview with the British broadcaster BBC on Sunday.
She would also have seen several people having fist fights.
"I've been in the club scene for two years and have seen a lot of fights, but I've never seen anything like this," said Curran.

In the past few years there had also been terrorist attacks in the country, in which, among other things, stabbing weapons were used.
Serious incident in Birmingham: people should avoid area
The incident is said to have occurred around 1:30 a.m. (CEST) at night.
After that, the police received several calls.
The people of Birmingham have been encouraged to avoid the area.
Foreign Minister Dominic Raab called on the people of Birmingham to be "very vigilant".
He couldn't say more about the case, said Raab in an interview with the news channel Sky News.

Five people were arrested, according to Scotland Yard.
The background to the incident in London was initially unclear.
In Glasgow, Scotland, a knife attack occurred only a few weeks ago.
There were several people injured, and the perpetrator himself died.
