The Karl-Lederer-Platz in Geretsried is almost finished.

The remaining construction work is to be completed in calendar week 39.

  • An end is in sight: the construction work on Karl-Lederer-Platz should be completed by the end of September

  • The fountain with the three water carriers should go into operation this year

  • The seating is already there and will be set up after the work is completed

Geretsried - Karl-Lederer-Platz does not currently invite you to linger.

Not yet.

At the end of this month, the last construction site charm should be gone.

“We are assuming that everything will be ready in calendar week 39,” says Ute Raach, managing officer in the town hall.

Only the area in front of the town hall is missing

In June the new bitumen pavement was put on the ground in front of the BGZ building.

This was followed by other areas, so that only the area in front of the town hall is missing.

The colored asphalt will be applied there on Thursday, September 10th - if the weather is fine.

In the following week, the floor covering should be sanded, says Raach.

Two of the three water carriers by the sculptor Prof. Wilhelm Srb-Schloßbauer have been standing in front of the administration building for a month now.

When planning the ensemble of figures, the architect Klaus Kehrbaum, who designed the “New Center”, saw a nice photo motif for bridal couples after the appointment at the registry office.

There is a simple reason that the photo motif is not yet complete.

Raach explains: “One of the sculptures is not in the fountain area, so the colored asphalt has to be applied first.” The foundation is ready, as soon as the flooring is finished, the third grace, as the water carriers are popularly known, can be set up.

Time capsule is to be sunk in the well

What would water carriers be without water?

According to Raach, the new well or watercourse should go into operation this year.

Before that, however, the city wants to sink a time capsule on the ground.

“Their stainless steel lid, which should be visible in the well, is currently being engraved,” explains the managing officer.

Srb-Schloßbauer's work of art is part of the sculpture path, which, according to Mayor Michael Müller's idea, should lead from the Petruskirche to the city museum.

Another foundation is therefore ready on Karl-Lederer-Platz.

It is located roughly where the water carriers used to stand.

This is where the "Dialog" by Ernst Grünwald from Münsing is to be set up.

“We are waiting for the sculptor to complete it,” says Raach.

The yellow-orange barriers in the area of the underground parking ramp are also reminiscent of a construction site.

According to Raach, some of these mark traffic islands that will be filled with earth this week.

They are planted in line with the “Urban Greenery Close to Nature” project.

The markings at the junction in the direction of Geretsried Nord “remain for better orientation”, says Raach.

The markings at the entrance and exit of the underground car park are to be replaced by another type of wall or a railing, "to prevent pedestrians and cyclists from taking a shortcut there".

Chairs are already delivered

What is missing for a successful stay at Karl-Lederer-Platz is seating.

"The chairs have already been delivered, but it only makes sense to put them up when all the site fences and vehicles are gone." They should be distributed across the square so that citizens can put them together as they wish - "Corona-compliant," emphasizes Raach .

In the evening they are likely to be chained together “so that they cannot get any legs, even if they are quite heavy”.

The Karl-Lederer-Platz is to form the T-zone of the "New Center" with the Egerlandstrasse.

As is well known, work on the new residential and commercial buildings, including the underground car park, is being carried out by the building cooperative and the savings bank on Egerlandstrasse.

This Tuesday, September 8th, the main and finance committee will discuss the design of the space there and a public toilet in the underground car park.

The meeting begins at 5 p.m. in the large meeting room of the town hall.
