The young black man who was shot by a white policeman first spoke in the hospital: "It hurts me to breathe"
Jacob Blake, 29, who was shot in the back by a Wisconsin police officer, recounted the pain he has been suffering from since the shooting, from which he is still trying to recover.
"I have back and abdominal pain. It hurts to move from side to side," Blake said in a video released by his lawyer about two weeks after the shooting, which sparked a wave of protests in the United States.

Jacob Blake, the 29-year-old black man who was shot in the back by a white Wisconsin police officer, made his first statement today (Sunday) in his voice from the hospital bed, as protests against racial justice and against police violence continue in U.S. cities.
In a video posted on Twitter, Blake, wearing a green hospital gown, described the pain he was suffering from after the shooting that left him paralyzed from the waist down.
"I have pain in my back and damn stomach," he said.
"It hurts to breathe, it hurts to sleep, it hurts to move from side to side, it hurts to eat," Blake added in a video released by his lawyer, Ben Cramp.
The Blake shooting, which took place on August 23, rekindled protests against racism and police violence in the United States, which erupted in May when another black man, George Floyd, died after a Minneapolis police officer knelt down for nearly nine minutes.

The demonstrations coincided with widespread upheavals affected by the social and economic consequences of the corona plague, from which nearly 190,000 people died in the United States, the highest death toll in the world.
Demonstrations also took place at the forefront of US President Donald Trump's campaign to seek re-election on November 3.
