Turkey today (Sunday) expressed disappointment with Kosovo's decision to recognize Israel and open its embassy in Jerusalem.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry, one of the first countries to recognize Kosovo after its declaration of independence from Serbia in 2008, said that "even the thought of the Kosovo government to take such a step, which is a clear violation of international law, is disappointing."

The Foreign Ministry in Ankara has called on the Kosovo leadership, which has close ties with the Turkish government, to refrain from taking steps that it claims would harm Jerusalem's legal status.

Turkey is leading a firm line against the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the opening of embassies in the city, and it has sided with the Palestinians in their fight against the Trump administration's policies.
