South Korea raised the Typhoon Haishen alert level to "severe" on Sunday local time, the highest level.
The phenomenon could cause heavy rains and strong winds, said the Interior and Security Ministry.
And Japan ordered the evacuation of nearly two million people on the island of Kyushu in the face of the typhoon.
