Wolfratshausen - doctors at lunch, a chat among patients and visitors over a piece of cake or a relaxed reading of the newspaper with a cup of coffee: the cafeteria of the district clinic in Wolfratshausen is busy every day - actually.
Because the café with bistro kitchen, small beer garden and large cake counter has been empty since the end of July.
"We terminated the contract prematurely at the initiative of the tenant," reports clinic manager Ingo Kühn when asked.
For both sides this was "not an easy step".
The restaurateur - Andreas Frimmer from Königsdorf has been running the café for about a year and a half - "was a welcome host with our patients, visitors and employees".
Frimmer said goodbye to his customers on the social networks Facebook and Instagram.
"Every additional day would be too high a financial burden for our small family business", he explained in the emotional contribution the reasons for the closure.
Clinic boss Kühn expresses understanding for this: "In the age of Corona, contact restrictions and lockdown, almost all branches of the economy are having a hard time, and gastronomy is particularly affected."
The hospital is now looking for a replacement for the cafeteria.
“We got in touch with some potential tenants,” says Kühn.
It is not yet entirely clear in which direction the café, which recently also served lunch and more unusual dishes, will develop in the future.
"We have several ideas and are trying to implement one of them with a new tenant," concluded the clinic director.
