European Commission spokesman Peter Stano said: "No EU member state has an embassy in Jerusalem. Any move by Kosovo and Serbia that would cast doubt on the EU's common position would cause sorrow and remorse."

Stano, who made the remarks during a joint meeting with Serbian President Alexander Vujicic and Kosovo Prime Minister Ibrahim Hoti, claimed that the union did not know in advance about the part of the agreement that would strengthen ties with Israel and move delegations to Jerusalem, because the US administration had only The section dealing with the tightening of economic ties between Belgrade and Pristina.

In Belgrade, senior government officials today sounded hesitant about a commitment to relocate the embassy to Jerusalem.

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said the final decision on the relocation of the embassy would have to go through another series of discussions and the government's decision would be determined by "several factors" including the development of future relations with Israel.

The agreement, signed at the White House on Friday, is intended to regulate economic relations between the former Serbian province and Belgrade and includes a clause under which Kosovo will establish full relations with Israel and establish a diplomatic mission in Jerusalem and Serbia will also move its embassy to the Israeli capital.

The president of Kosovo, accused Tachi, was quick to welcome the establishment of relations with Israel and told Israel Today that it was a historic agreement.
