A 54-year-old foreign national, caring for the elderly in a nursing home in Bnei Brak, was arrested by Merhav Dan police on suspicion of negligently causing the death of an 86-year-old nursing home resident, who died a few days ago at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer.

Police officers who arrived at the nursing home where the elderly woman was being treated passed security cameras, where an unusual incident was observed in which the suspect ran with her while she was in a wheelchair.

At one point, the suspect hit the wall of the hallway, and the elderly woman fell off the chair and was injured.

Thereafter, the caregiver did not report what happened to his superiors.

Preliminary examination reveals that this is most likely the cause of death, and the Dan Space Police located the caregiver and he was questioned for causing death by negligence and non-reporting.

During his interrogation, he said that he did indeed act carelessly.

Today, the suspect was brought to the Magistrate's Court in Tel Aviv, in order to extend his house arrest, where the defense attorney said that it was clear that this was an offense that was at most an offense, committed out of negligence.

There is no danger that requires the suspect to be placed under house arrest and it is sufficient at this stage to prohibit him from working with the elderly.

Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court Judge Amit Yariv, who ordered the caregiver to be released on seven-day house arrest, banned him from caring for the elderly until a different decision is made.
