A new fire broke out in the lands of Ein Halakim district in Masyaf district in Hama countryside, and firefighting teams are currently struggling with the people to control it after it destroyed thousands of acres of forest wealth and fruit trees.
The head of the town council of Ain Halakim Ragheb Kousa stated in a statement to the SANA reporter that the fire spread to the forests of Ain Halakim from the lands of the neighboring town of Ain Shams from the west side, indicating that the strong winds and the rugged terrain of the area contributed to the rapid expansion of the range of fire, and fire lines are being opened to isolate some homes in the district. The director of Ain Hallaqim district stated that the Ain Shams fire broke out yesterday and extended its fire this morning to the lands of Ain Halakim, warning of the spread of the fire to the bushes located towards the village of Hazour from the south and southwest side, indicating that the operations to put out it require additional reinforcements with firefighting crews and mechanisms due to its magnitude and ferocity of fire.
For their part, a number of Ain Halakim residents saw that the firefighters ’preoccupation with other areas and the speed and fluctuation of the winds led to the widening of the front of the fire that crept into the forests and woodlands of the district from the town of Ain Shams to the west.
Another fire broke out in Al-Haraj, located near the Wadi Al-Ayoun town council building, and the presence of a nearby water tank helped to quickly extinguish it, as well as the active participation of the people in the extinguishing operations, according to the head of the town council, Abbas Hassan.
