Good news for fans of the genre.

Two months after Chef Haim Cohen sadly announced the indefinite closure of his old restaurant, Dixie, today (Monday) it reopened, and in the coming days will even offer new dishes on the menu.

"After a long time, since March 15, in fact, that we closed and did not return because of the outline, we are opening the Dixie today, but this is an opening that is accompanied by a great fear of telling the truth," Haim Cohen told Israel Today.

There is talk of another closure all the time.

Opening a restaurant costs a lot of money and closing it also costs a lot.

"However," Cohen added, "I am an optimistic person and I hope that under the new outline we will be able to slowly return to work. We are happy to return and receive feedback and encouragement from the audience that misses. And we are working on a new dish called 'The Jewish Hamburger'. Potato salad, coleslaw and more "

Last March, Cohen, like many restaurateurs, closed all his businesses after the outbreak of the Corona crisis, including the 26-year-old Dixie restaurant.

Cohen told Israel Today that, "Dixie never closed except on Yom Kippur, Remembrance and the Holocaust and now the Corona. 26 years and most of the time 24/7. These days we are closing its gates for a limited time, I hope to return soon to a place that has become an institution in local culture." .

We do not know?

In the turbulent 1990s, Tel Aviv was scattered over some dominant food strongholds that dictated the culinary life of the vibrant city.

Such was Dixie.

Since its opening in 1993, it has brought a fresh breeze that has never been seen before here - an American diner restaurant with corrupt and large dishes that have settled on the Israeli palate thirsty for innovation.

Dixie worked into the wee hours of the night until dawn, happily feeding the city blazers.

It was a place where you could devour an iconic wing plate, enjoy a juicy burger in the middle of the night, soak up alcohol and celebrate a birthday.
