Eight-year prison sentence ratified against former President Rafael Correa of Ecuador
The former president of Ecuador Rafael Correa has exhausted all legal remedies within that country to avoid the sentence of 8 years in prison for the crime of bribery as an instigation perpetrator in relation to the Odebrecth case, according to the Ecuadorian justice. Correa was politically disqualified so he will not be able to register to participate in the next elections in 2021 and the former president, who has always denied the accusations, says that this ratification of his sentence is "political persecution."
