“Since Friday, obscure supporters of the dictatorship”

of Daniel Ortega and his wife and vice-president Rosario Murillo

“have systematically attacked the Foundation's social networks, and there have been attempts to sabotage our computer systems”

, said Lina Barrantes, director of the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress.

These computer attacks coincided with the announcement by the Arias Foundation (Nobel Peace Prize 1987) of the creation of a

"court of opinion"

on human rights violations in Nicaragua.

Usually created by and made up of private individuals who become judges and jury, the

objective of

“tribunals of opinion” is

to denounce, in a legal form, acts that have violated the rights of peoples, and thereby to publicize them.

On Tuesday, this opinion court will begin to sit to analyze in particular the use of sexual violence in Nicaragua as a crime against humanity.

The Costa Rican Foundation said in a statement that it had gathered information about attacks by supporters of President Ortega and his wife

"as evidence to be presented to international human rights organizations."
